Melissa Evans Headshot

Melissa had a dream to be a Broadway star, but the reality of pounding the pavement year after year made her realize that wasn’t where her heart was. She found veterinary medicine, started working in the Emergency department and knew she was home. After becoming credentialed in 2013 she learned her specialty in Emergency and Critical Care in 2018. Melissa has worked at referral and specialty hospitals in both New Jersey and New York as an Emergency, ICU and Critical Care technician. She has experience in shelter, wildlife and disaster
medicine.

In her position as owner of Melissa E, VTS (ECC) Consulting, LLC, Melissa provides both virtual and in-hospital hands-on training in advanced skills. She is a RECOVER CPR Certified Instructor and has served as the Master of Ceremonies for the RECOVER Battles at IVECCS since 2022. Melissa has spoken at both national and international conferences and webinars, including IVECCS, EVECCS, VMX and WVC. She has been published in multiple journals and is the editor of the recently published ‘Veterinary Nursing Guide to Monitoring Critical Patients: The Rule of 20’. Melissa has previously served as Director on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) and is
currently a Member-at – Large on the AVECCTN board and co-chair for the IVECCS Scientific Program Group.

Melissa lives in Brooklyn, NY with her husband, son and three cats. In her free time she enjoys Pilates, exploring the city with her family and watching British crime shows. She hopes to someday be able to flex her inner Jane Marple while vacationing at a seaside resort where she can help investigate an inexplicable crime.
